PORTLAND
WELCOME TO PORTLAND!
Planning to visit Portland? Portland is the largest city in Oregon, and it is divided into five large quadrants full of various neighborhoods. Each area of Portland has it’s own character, so if you are here for a few days, get out and explore! For us, Portland was a stop along our trip from Seattle to San Francisco.
PORTLAND BY NIGHT
Wine and Dine in Portland
Portland is full of breweries, wineries, and restaurant options. We spent our night on the town in the Pearl District neighborhood of the Northwest quadrant. This neighborhood is home to the famous Powell’s Bookstore, which is the World’s largest independent bookstore. If books are your thing, check it out!
You will also find Deschutes Brewery, which offers a large variety of beers and food. It is amazing to us how many times we visit breweries throughout the country, and stumble upon Deschutes Brewery signage. Another popular brewery in the city is Rogue Brewing. The options really are endless, depending on your preferences.
One thing we did notice was a significant amount of homeless in this city. When exploring around the city at night, it is important to stay aware of your surroundings and use your best judgment!
PORTLAND BY DAY
Good Morning, Portland
There is plenty of nightlife in Portland, but you may be wondering what there is to do during the day. From a city perspective, the city is primarily bustling with office workers during the day. Other than some parks throughout the city, things to do during the day seem limited.
If you are staying a while in Portland, we recommend escaping the city during the day and discovering all the beautiful nature around you. Within an hour drive, you can find yourself kayaking, hiking or anything else you love to do outdoors!
What we loved most about Oregon was the coast. Check out our recommendations from exploring Oregon’s Highway 101.
What we took away:
Overall, Portland is a unique city that is worth visiting. If you enjoying a night out on the town, you will not be disappointed visiting this city for an evening or two. With all of the natural beauty that surrounds this city, our recommendation would be to spend your precious time exploring that rather than the city specifically. Lastly, it is great stop if you are traveling from through the Pacific Northwest!
